The national conference of the Association of Medical Women in India (AWMI) was held on October 15-16, 2011 at Nagpur, India. Keynote speaker Dr. Arti Basu urged that as a medical fraternity we know that prevention is better than cure, and only prevention can control the illegal trade of small arms and lights weapons. Stringent laws that regulate firearms in India and neighboring states, as well as a strong international Arms Trade Treaty, are needed.
